Bonnie Straka, M.D.

Dr. Bonnie Straka is the president, founder, and medical director of Albemarle Dermatology Associates & Signature Medical Spa.  A board certified dermatologist serving medical, surgical, and aesthetic patients in Charlottesville since 1991, she is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Virginia Dermatology Society and the Medical Society of Virginia, as well as the National Psoriasis Foundation, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery.  A summa cum laude graduate of Williams College, she earned her medical degree from the University of Connecticut.   She trained as a resident in dermatology at the University of Virginia where she also serves as an adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology.  Beyond her work at ADA/SMS, Dr. Straka is the international consulting dermatologist for Love Without Boundaries, an organization dedicated to providing desperately needed medical care to orphans throughout China.  She is the wife of crime novelist Andy Straka and Mom to Chris, Kelci, Lily, Aimee, Noelle and Luke. A Master scuba diver, she also enjoys hiking, reading, and anything chocolate.


Deborah Lockman, M.D.

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Deborah Lockman is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Virginia Dermatology Society.  Dr. Lockman focuses on medical and surgical dermatology while also performing select aesthetic procedures. After receiving her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech, Dr. Lockman moved to Charlottesville where she earned her medical degree and received residency training in dermatology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.  An avid biker and a Master swimmer, she is the wife of Dr. Andy Lockman and Mom to Matt and Emma.

Hannah Pearce, M.D.

Dr. Hannah Pearce specializes in medical and surgical dermatology for adults and children.  A board certified dermatologist, she has been practicing general dermatology since 1996 and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Virginia Dermatology Society, and the Albemarle County Medical Society.  After earning her B.A. from Princeton University, Dr. Pearce attended medical school and completed her internship at the University of Maryland before crossing to the Wahoo side of the Potomac to complete her residency in dermatology at the University of Virginia.  The wife of Dr. Bruce Cohen and Mom to Madeline, Aaron, Ben, and Eli, she likes to run and read in her spare time.

Amalie Derdeyn, M.D.

Dr. Derdeyn is a board certified dermatologist specializing in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology.  She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Virginia Dermatology Society and on the fundraising committee for the Women’s Dermatologic Society.  Dr. Derdeyn is a graduate of the University of Virginia College of Arts and Sciences and School of Medicine.  While a medical student, she was recognized as a Bowman Scholar for clinical excellence and during her clinical training she was awarded educational scholarships by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the Women’s Dermatologic Society.  She completed her residency in dermatology at the University of Virginia.  

In addition to her practice at ADA and SMS, Dr. Derdeyn is a volunteer at the Charlottesville Free Clinic.  She is the wife of Mike, a Charlottesville attorney, and Mom to Ned and Lia.
